Girona, a cinematographic city

Joc de Trons, Game of Thrones, Juego de Tronos

Did you know that Girona was chosen to shoot the 6th season of Game of Thrones? Yes, the most expensive series in television history, based on the George R. R. Martin saga A Song of Ice and Fire and which has 26 Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe.

The historical heritage of the city made it chosen among other candidates on an international scale. And the thing is… Girona have us in love.

In the Cathedral scene we can see about 200 Tyrell soldiers (imagine how many extras!), in addition to the spectacular appearance of Jaime Lannister riding up the majestic stairs.

Bisbe Josep Cartañà street, behind the Cathedral, appears in the first episode of the 6th season, when Arya Stark is begging through the streets of Braavos.

The Arab Baths (in the series, Baths of Braavos) also appear in a moment of the persecution to which Arya is subjected. The baths are located in a Romanesque-style building built in 1194 and have been declared a cultural asset of national interest.

The “Pujada de Sant Domènech”, where there is the classic Café Le Bistrot, declared the most romantic corner of Spain, is also one of the settings in this successful series. (By the way, this is a pet-friendly café, so you can enjoy this unique place with your four-legged friend).
