A group of guests told us about their adventure to what they say is the most beautiful beach on the Costa Brava.
It was a normal Friday morning when Cataleya, a young woman from Brazil, came down from her room at Can Cocollona to have breakfast. While serving herself, she noticed that several guests were talking about a very special beach. She decided to sit at the table, and before she knew it, a few minutes later, she was already involved in the conversation. Cataleya met Jey and Dani, who were the same age as her, and who, like her, were exploring Girona and its surroundings.
During the conversation, Cataleya realized that Calella de Palafrugell Beach seemed like a great destination, as Dani and Jey couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful it was and how close it was to Girona. After chatting for a while, the three, inspired by the destination, decided to be a little spontaneous and get ready to go to the beach. The first thing they did was check the bus schedules, and then they packed their bags, water, food, and together they walked from Can Cocollona to the station.
The good thing about the transportation is that several companies offered direct routes to Calella de Palafrugell. On the bus, they paid 5 euros each and it took about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Upon arrival, they walked to the beach and discovered that there were several coves to relax in, such as Cala de Port Bo, Golfet, and Sant Roc, each with crystal-clear waters and a secluded, intimate natural environment. People seemed calm, and even though tourism in this area, especially in summer, tends to be crowded, Cataleya was impressed by how well-organized this beach was.
Calella de Palafrugell had crystal-clear waters, light-colored sand, vegetation, well-organized coastal spaces, and looked very clean. On the beach, there were all kinds of people: groups of friends playing volleyball, couples reading books, parents spending time with their children, locals enjoying the breeze from their homes, and much more.
As the sun was setting, Dani recommended a restaurant where he had eaten with friends before, called El Fiego, a place with Mediterranean dishes and fresh seafood. Of course, he also recommended NUI with traditional Catalan cuisine and La Blava with more modern gastronomy. Cataleya realized that the local gastronomic offerings were different from what she expected, and she was fascinated by the taste, although not so much by the prices.
After a day full of sun, new friends, drinks, and good food, the three travelers walked around the town, fascinated by the local crafts and businesses. Without a doubt, the afternoon at Palafrugell Beach was one of Cataleya’s best experiences since arriving in Girona, and that same night, after returning around 8 p.m. to the hostel, she couldn’t stop showing photos and commenting on how happy she was.
This guest’s story caught our attention because, at that moment, after talking so much about Palafrugell, she realized that this was the place where she wanted to spend the rest of her life. Cataleya returned to her country, Brazil, where there are also beautiful beaches. However, her connection with Palafrugell led her to sell all her belongings in her country and move her entire life to Spain. Regardless of the winter or the harsh summer, Cataleya found a job in a restaurant near the beach and is now part of the management team of a well-known company. We couldn’t be happier to know her story and to have been part of it.
From Can Cocollona, we invite you to immerse yourself in your destination and truly connect with it. Take the time to enjoy the beaches and their surroundings, and remember that traveling responsibly enriches the experience for everyone.
We hope your visit is memorable! Share your experiences with us in the comments and follow us on our social media.
A big hug from the Can Coco family!
